You should do your own breast self exam every month 7 days after your menses stop. Mammograms are usually intended for women 40 years or older, so you don't have to worry about that yet.
Some lumps that you might feel would be benign or 'harmless' and are caused by hormones. These should be movable and somewhat rubbery. Cancerous lumps are non-movable, hard, and extend towards the armpit region.
I think it's best that you schedule a visit to your doctor and have your breasts checked, for your own peace of mind.

You can start doing SBE - or self breast exams - trying to feel for the "BB" type spot in the breast. The biggest thing is that YOU know what they feel like and what changes might happen. That way, when things change, you can keep track of them. They will get kind of ropy and different during your period, but should return to normal therafter.
BUT you should know that breat cancer is very rare before the age of 35, so you need not worry too much. You won't need a regular mammogram before 50, unless something suspicous is found AFTER the age of 35, then they will look further.
SO you don't need to worry about everything too much yet. Learn how to do a self breast exam and keep tabs on yourself and you'll be doing more than most girls are your age ensure proper health. GOOD LUCK!

You should do a self exam every month. If breast cancer runs in your family, then I recommend at age 25 to get a mammogram. That's what my doctor recommended with my family history. But if not, then you can go at 35 or 40.
Lumps feel like little peas or bigger. You can move them around and they don't hurt at all.
Make sure that your dad understands that your are 15 and need to start (if you haven't already) go to the ob/gyn. You don't have to go into detail. When you are at that age, it is important to take care of yourself.

Unless you have a history of breast cancer in your family, 40 years old is the typical age for a mammogram. Every woman's breast tissue can feel a bit different. My advice to you would be to go and see your doctor and get him/her to teach you how to do a proper self exam so that you know what to look for.

well if it runs in your family then you should get it checked out. I would suggest going to an ob/gyn and having them do a manual test on you to see if there is any reason to do a mammogram. You should be checking yourself every month even now and you should do it like 2 weeks after your period. You will feel lumps in your breasts if you feel them right around or during your period and this is why you should wait until 2 weeks after it's over.

haha, you shouldn't have to worry about mammograms for a while, I think they recommend getting them done annually or something when you turn 40 (or 50, not sure which). You can have your breasts checked anything, though there's not much possibility until you hit like, 50 or something. I don't know what lumps feel like, but try this site, www.drsusanlove.com, it'll tell you all about it, probably. Dr. Love used to be my mom's doctor, and she's amazing. :) If it makes you feel any better, I'm 19, and I'm thinking of getting my breasts checked, even though there's probably nothing to worry about :)

lumps feel like peas under your skin, and usually , unless you have a family history of breast cancer, 40 is the first one. and after 50 you get one a year, but some people say 25 as the first one and every 5 yrs till 40 and then every year. this is up to you and your personal doctor,

the advice is for all women human beings to get a baseline mammogram between 35-40. that is element of preventative care, and your insurance might want to conceal it. My insurance allowed for one at age 35, and that is when I had it performed. Why wait!!

Most women don't start getting checked, untill they reach the age of 35-40.
Unless you have extreamly large breasts or someone else in your family have brest cancer then you don't need to be checked before that age; or if you feel it is nessacry to go get checked before then.
