Yeah, you definitely forgot John Cusack in _Say Anything_.
But, you know, I was born in 1984 and have still never seen _The Goonies_, and never watched the _Rocky_ movies or the _Indiana Jones_ movies very closely until recently 'cause I'm not into that action crap. And I'm not much for random sci fi, so I've never cared to watch any of the old _Star Wars_ movies, either.
Plus, my parents never sat around and watched movies with me when I was 6 years old or smaller. I read.

Of those you listed, I haven't seen "IT"... but then again I shy away from the horror genre.
Others here have listed some incredible classics of the 80's/90's
For lightness add "Princess Bride"... Have fun storming the Castle boys !! And of course anything turned out by Pixar.
I dislike horror or bood-n-guts, but DO add "Polstergeist"... (watched that on graduation night). Also add "Lost Boys" and "Near Dark" for a good 80's vampire fest... "Blood Sport" and other Jean Claude films.... and then the "Blade" series for the 90's
Toss on "Rocky Horror", "Little Shop of Horrors", and "Lair of the White Worm" for bizarre cult films that are great.
Top Gun has to be included in the 80's to capture Reagan... as well as "Red Dawn", "Taps", " Rambo" and even "Predator".
I just miss the 80s when a movie meant a THEATER... no DVD, no "free-download", no HBO even.

Was this girl from another country? She has to watch anything by John Hughes (Molly Ringwald Rocks!), Some Kind of Wonderful, Howard the Duck, Dirty Dancing, Karate Kid 1-3, Flashdance, Adventures in Babysitting, Night of the Comet, Troop Beverly Hills, Labyrinth, Police Academy, Gremlins, Top Gun, FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH!!!!!, The Last American Virgin, Carrie (or any other Stephen King movie), All of the Nightmare on Elm Streets, Friday the 13th Series, Halloween, SLEEPAWAY CAMP MOVIES,.....I could go on.
This girl has got to go back and re-live the 80s before continuing on.

She must have been living under a rock if she's never seen Star Wars. That's a crime against humanity. Make sure she sees all three of them. Also, if she hasn't seen these, definitely have her watch Beetlejuice, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure,Caddyshack, E.T., Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Gremlins, all of the Karate Kid movies, The Never Ending Story (NOT part II - that one was horrible), Pretty Woman, Revenge of the Nerds, Robocop, Sixteen Candles, Spaceballs, St. Elmo's Fire, Weekend at Bernie's, Willow, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit. (I pulled these off a big list; that's why they're in alphabetical order.) They're all great movies that just scream "I'm a child of the 80's!"

The movies my friends and I watched the most in the 80's were Purple Rain, Sid and Nancy, Pink Floyds The Wall, Quadrophenia, Eraserhead...if I hadn't been drunk all the time in college I'm sure I'd remember more.

How about War of the Roses, Romancing the Stone, Body Heat, and Altered States. Those were pretty terrific. And I, too, love Lost Boys.
