Go to a local drug store and get a little box of test strips that tell you when you are ovulating. You should be able to find a box of 20 test strips for about 15.00 - 20.00. Start testing about 5 days after the last day of your period. So your period ends on monday then start testing on friday and keep testing yourself everyday until you see a positive result, meaning that your body is giving off the hormones telling you that you are ovulating (I think it's hcg). Continue to test and see how many positive days that you get and mark all of this down on the calendar. Remember that sperm can live inside you for up to 5 or 6 days. Now if you started ovulating on the 15th then you would now know that (15-5 days) you can't have sex safely past the 10th. There is a window of about 3 to 4 days that you are ovulating or the test will show positive for this hormone so then add those days on. Example: You start ovulating on the 15th then no sex without a condom from the 10th till the 19th. The best way to remember the ovulation day is actually to count how many days total it took you to ovulate from the first day of your period, that way you get it right every month.

Your best bet is the Nuva Ring. The side effects are lower then any other and it has a 99.9% chance on preventing pregnancy. It is nice because it is once a month. Also, you can not feel it during sex. The guy has a low chance of feeling it. It is more like he might feel it in certain positions. Besides, you can take it out for a few hours at a time.
There are other ways, like depo-provera but the side effects are horrible. The today sponge, but that can be more expensive then pills or condoms and it also has a much lower rate, like 85% if you had a baby, and 90% if you never have. You can get the IUD, which has a high rate, but more side effects. Also I heard of many women now that can not have children anymore because of a fall and the IUD pierced them.
But go to your doctor or a planned parenthood for a professional opinion.

The safest days of unprotected sex r d first 6 days of ur bleeding. Yes u can hve sex during bleeding. It doesn't harm u in any way. Hope d following may help u dear. If u can give feed back i m happy. Suppose the 1st day of menses in a particular month is 5. Add 14. U get 19. Starting from 19 add & subtract 5 each. U get 23 and 15.So the period from 15 to 23 is NOT SAFE. There is a 100% chance of getting pregnant during this period. If u want 2 avoid pregnancy, don’t do penal sexual intercourse during this period UNLESS the female partner IS ON REGULAR PILLS. For the remaining period after the 6th day of menses till 14th, if 1 wants 2 avoid pregnancy, as a precaution use condom, pills. cream etc. though the chances of pregnancy are almost nil during this period. But it is guaranteed that from the first day to the 6tth or 7th day 1 can b 100 & safe without any preventive measures. During this period 1 can nicely enjoy without any fear. In the above example it will be from 5th to 10th/11th. Remember, 1 can definitely have sex during menses. There is no harm. If the male partner is having any inhibitions he can use a condom for the first 3/4 days. As far as the period from 24 to 2 of next month is concerned, it is comparatively safe but should be careful since 1 cannot exactly predict the next date with precision. But 1 could b confident of not getting pregnant during pre menstrual syndrome, since it shows that the date is already near. (The calculation may / may not b accurate in the case of those having irregular menstrual cycle)

Have you heard of natural family planning? It's where you chart your basal body temp (your temp in the morning) everyday and whenever it's a little higher for a few days that's when you're ovulating. You can also chart your vaginal discharge. Not to sound gross, but when it's really thick and stretchy is when you're ovulating. There's a lot more to it than this, but this is the basic idea. Most couples go to a session to learn all the techniques and how it works. If you do everything correctly it's pretty much just as effective as birth control!!

If you want the easiest and cheapest way to achieve this, follow your rhythmic cycle. That is, a woman ovulates usually 8-12 days after the first day of her period. So avoid those days. However, it is not always guaranteed. A woman is 82% likely to get pregnant within a year using the "pull-out" method.

There's no "safe" way of having sexual intercourse without the possibility of getting pregnant. You can always do oral. No chance of getting sperm where you don't want it.
The time that is most volitile is exactly between periods. That's when the woman is more likely to conceive. So have sex right after or right before ther period. But it still doesn't guarantee no pregnancy.

What you are talking about is what the Catholic church calls the rhythm method of birth control-the only one they allow. Most people who use the rhythm method of birth control are called parents-it doesn't work. Although you can time your menstrul cycle and estimate an approximate time of ovulation, there is no way to know exactly when is a safe time to have unprotected sex.

How about using the vaginal contraceptive film or the vaginal sponge called Today. There are also vaginal suppositories you can buy over the counter. What about a diaphragm or IUD?
