Go to the town or hospital where you were born to ask about getting a copy of your birth certificate. If you have a passport from another country or an ID or credit card then you can use that as an ID. Or call social security and ask them about how to get a US SS number.

Contact the Department of Vital Statistics in the state where the person was born to get a copy of the birth certificate. You will need the date of birth, county where born, and name the person was born under. Contact your local branch of Social Security Aministration about getting a replacement card. Once the card is issued, all other IDs should be accessable. Contact your insurance companies for replacement cards and copies of the policies.

The DMV website in my state said I would need a SS card, birth certificate, etc to get an ID card. When I actually got to the DMV, though, they didn't ask for a single piece of ID. Any person on the street could have walked up and claimed to be me. It was horrible!

I urge you to advice a person to contact a lawyer and find a way to apply for a visa to stay, or contact the employer to sponsor the H1B visa for a new quota next year.Unfortunately, our government did not decide anything yet about the immigration crisis and 12 millions still have no real ID and used up the resources from the State. You and me are paying for them every day. What is a life?

If you are young enough, start with a school ID. If you don't have one, go to the DMV and ask what is needed for a photo ID. Find out the state they were born in and get a certified copy of the Birth Cert-without it, it is difficult to obtain anything else.

You can always get a copy of your birth certificate or a replacement social security card. Check with the county recorder's office or the social security administration.
