Well, in my opinion Hollister is pretty cheap, and i Like the way their jeans fit my body, it's kinda sexy, also abercrombie has good clothes that last ages, even if they look ragged

Some branded clothes are expensive because of the name. But there are some that are expensive because of the quality... the material, the way it is put together, the way the stores are kept (clean, great customer service, etc)... When I shop, I look for quality of the material, the stitches, the style that are of reasonable price. I do say the atmosphere the store gives you is another factor in price... I do not shop at Hollister and Abercrombie, but received a couple shirts from Abercrombie, and I think the material is nice.

NO IT ISNT BETTER MATERIAL OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT!!! It's Because people walk into the malls and look around at the clothes. The preps and the people that want everyone to know that they have enough money to buy ten abercrombie shirts and matching jeans at the same time so they get them and wear them. It really isn't ny diff. from regular clothes, its just that everyone who can afford it is quick to point out that it makes them COOL and if you can't afford it then you are not. The only reason why they have those things is because someone richer than them sported them first and the lil preps runnin around wanted to be like them, those prudie followers. It is way to expensive for a little bit of thread that is easily stitched into a cursive name. I hate crap like that. Yes, the clothes are cute, but I hate the principle of the matter.

It's simple economics, "Supply and Demand". Spoiled rich kids are willing to pay ridiculous prices for a logo, so the companies cater to them making huge profits from it. In reality the clothes cost a few dollars to make, they may say "Made in America", but that really means it was made in the Philippines or another US territory.

Those stores really don't have superior quality or style, but now it's pretty "cool" for teens to shop at those stores, so teens that are trying to fit in often shop at those stores to be accepted. People like having those little 'stamps' of being rich, because . . . well, it makes people feel good!
Good luck!

Not sure why they cost so dang much!!...and no i don't think it's the material..because sometimes their shirts are so transparent...you need to buy 3 shirts...layer them all and then it's the perfect thickness to not be transparent!!...so as to why...i think it is just because of the name..and the "popularity" of it

The name, baby, the name. You are paying for the BRAND-the status of owning the name.
