Hard? What do you mean?
Hard to get accepted?
Hard course work?

Depending upon your major, some of the programs are impacted (meaning more people apply than spots available) which makes it "hard" to be accepted.

In terms of the course work, Cal Poly SLO is on the quarter system. It's fast paced and some students aren't used to quick pace, especially if they had senioritis in high school.

When I lived in the dorms at SLO, we had a couple froshmen flunk out by the second quarter. They were so happy being away from home they played and partied. The college gave them a warning, academic probation, but they continued doing the same stuff. By the second quarter, they were out.

What I'm saying is college is only as hard as you make it.

In regards to reputation, on the West Coast, Cal Poly SLO is well known for it's engineering program - turning out engineers that are ready to work, while the UC system generates engineers that are more book sauve.

Also, talking to people from the East Coast, the only reason they know about some of the UC schools and Stanford is due to their Division 1 Football team not academics. They have Harvard, Princeton and MIT, plus a bunch of other Ivy league schools.

Hello there. It depends what you mean by "hard". I personally applied there, and got accepted. My SAT score was 1720/2400 and my gpa was 3.4. I didn't have the highest grades, and yet, I still got accepted. A lot of my friends with lower scores also got accepted. So I don't believe it is necessarily a difficult school to get into.

San Diego State University...San Jose State University...Fresno State University...Humboldt State University...those are all CSU.

If college were easy, what would the emphasis on going be? If it were easy, why would companies want you to have a degree to work for them? Because finishing a degree at a college/university is a sign that you have the desire and perseverence to finish something that is a challenge.

Welcome to real life...where not everything is easy.
