I do know that some women have an increase in the amount of vaginal discharge when they are ovulating. My OBGYN said that it is your body's way of helping you get pregnant, but I do not remember exactly how.

I never heard of a discharge meaning that your period is around the corner, but who knows, everyone is different. Most women get the classic PMS systoms, cramps, moody, headaches, breast tenderness, etc.

Usually dischange is because of bacteria or abnormalities in the body, which can be cause by diet, stress, yeast infections, etc.

If there is alot of it and you itch then it's a yeast infection more than likely and infact you don't even have to itch, sometimes there is only the discharge. If it's only a little bit then there is nothing to worry about but it doesn't really mean that you are about to start. It's normal to have this all through the month.

Well Normal vaginal discharge has several purposes: cleaning and moistening the vagina and helping to prevent and fight infections. Although it's normal for the color, texture, and amount of vaginal fluids to vary throughout a girl's menstrual cycle, some changes in discharge may indicate a problem.
Normal vaginal fluids can vary somewhat in texture and color. They can be somewhat thin, sticky, and elastic or thick and gooey. Vaginal fluids should be clear, white, or off-white in color.
Hope this helps!

THE NORMAL QUANTITY OF A DISCHARGE IN YOUR VAGINA IS ABOUT TWO TABLE SPOONS. IT CAN GET MORE AROUND THE MIDDLE OF THE MONTH OR BEFORE YOUR PERIOD, YES. AS LONG AS IT IS WHITE AND DOES NOT HAVE ANY UNPLEASANT SMELL, IT'S PERFECTLY NORMAL. ANY DIFFERENCE IN THE COLOR, CONSISTENCE OR SMELL IS A SIGN OF AN INFECTION OR DISEASE.

Well if it's yellow i'm pretty sure it's 'cause you got something funky down there... ( like an infection) .
