Depends on how much money you have,and how much trouble you want from your bike.Honda four strokes have a bad reputation for over heating,in fact they got a scathing review from Motocross Action for that very problem.Yamaha four strokes have valve troubles,though to Yamaha's credit they did recall some of the bad parts.Check the prices of the parts to rebuild a four stroke compared to the two stroke machines.
Without a doubt the best two stroke machine available (new) is the YZ,the best mill,the best fork,the best package.If you want to race your machine the YZ-450F is the better machine,it has the killer speed sensitive forks that are the best out of the box,and has less of the over heating problems.If you are looking for a bike to hit the trails on go with a two stroke model,any honest dealer will tell you that the new water cooled four strokes aint trail bikes unless you have the experience to rip em,and (unlike me) you dont have kids to ride with & slow you down.If you buy a four stroke be prepared to either A:work on the machine your self,to adjust valve lash,ect or B:pay out the yang to have a shop do it.I am a tech at a Honda dealer,and need the money...buy the CR-450F! It's job security.

Are you in basic terms driving for relaxing? if so get the YZ250, this is an spectacular motorbike and a ton of relaxing to journey. in case you intend to race this is a completely different tale. in basic terms flow to your community tracks and attempt to locate one guy or woman on a 250 2 stroke this is on the rostrum...you will no longer.

the way of the future is the 4 stroke easily out do the 2 strokes and last 10 times longer

the yz250....4 strokes are the best right now but 2 strokes still have time to catch up like the 4 strokes did today!!! 2 strokes for eva!!!!
