Some homeless talk to themselves, but they seem to be out of touch with the world. i wouldn't do that. But i talk to myself because i wanna practice speaking, well i'm a shy guy and i don't have any friends. but even besides that, i talk cause i want to practice speaking so i can hear how my voice sounds or i want to practice some new phrase or grammar . i also study foreign languages so i need to do it..cause if i don't then i don't have any conversation partners so thre's no other way.

But if i know what i'm doing, if i don't go crazy, is it healthy?

Sure it's healthy until u start answering urself, then it's time for a mental tune-up.

Absolutely not!!!There is nothing wrong..infact I used to do that some time back..!!!!
You are doing just right....the only way to improve your language capability is by praccising..ie talking...and in your case sice you dont have any friends who share the same interest it is more so!!!
If you have a PC at home then you can record the conversation and play it back to find out how it sounds to other!!!
All the best man...and trust me it will do a world of good to you....
This is a guy who have done this and beniffitted so much from it!!

yea, the people you see talking to them selves are more crazy than you. i know what you mean though. sometimes i catch myself saying something outloud then laughing to myself. just a memory catching up to me and expressing itself.

but the crazy conversations i've seen people on the city bus have with themselves is a whole nother story. i'm talking hand movements, facial expressions, orders, questions and more. those people have lost all contact with the real world in that situation and have basically entered a dream temporarily. or permanently.

Save it for the shower or the car. You might confuse people. I can't count the number of times someone is talking into those damn handfree headsets of their cell and I htink they're talking to me and for a split second try to respond. I look like the ***. (Am I the only one that's done that? maybe i should post that question....)

I don't think it's unhealthy. But then again, I tend to talk to myself too. It's probably more unhealthy not to have any friends. I would reccomend getting involved with a hobby or activity where you can meet people. You deserve better.

I have heard people say it is okay as long as one do not answer themself. Reading out loud or talking per say about something to yourself is okay but someone walks up and hear you would think, hey is he cracking up talking to himself and it is kinna embrassing. That is the stage when one think that person done gone crazy.

Let's face it, all of us talk to ourselves. As long as you don't get into knock-down, drag-out fights with yourself, I think you're okay. I wouldn't have any shouting matches either. Keep it on the down low and you're good.

When I talk to myself (and I do that often), as long as I don't answer myself in somebody else's voice, it's all good.

As long as no one sees you.
