More than likely your PC is infected with adware. use these scans to remove it.

All of these are ones that I personally use and all are free. After you install any of them, make sure you update them to get the full affect.

AVG Removes I-Worm/Stration · BackDoor.Generic3.GBB and .GBC · Worm/Generic.FX · Exploit.WMF

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

First, I would get a good firewall/antivirus program. I use Norton Internet security 2006. It works great. In all my years of using this program i've gotten no pop ups. Also go to lavasoft.com and download adaware. If you run those 2 programs and keep up with the updates as well as routine cleanups ( deleting temp files and cookies and routine defrags) your pc will run like a champ.

On MS Explorer - go to "Tools" on menu bar and select "Pop up blocker" - See if yours are turned on or off. Obviously turn it off if you don't want pop ups.

If there are some sites you want to see the pop ups from, go to the "Pop up blocker settings" (same place as above) and specify these.

get a popup blocker. google "popup blocker" and you should find a good cheap one pretty easily. ad-aware is a great program if you've got adware on your computer (you probably do, most people have it). if you're sick of popups from web pages, I recommend using google toolbar for Explorer, or even better, download Firefox, it's a great browser with google toolbar built in. Automatic pop-up blockers rock!

Install a pop up blocker, install a spyware or adware program, and of course a virus protection.
