I just moved to a new location. I'm used to German weather around Christmas time. I'm used to singing "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas..." when there is actual snow on the ground.
Has anyone had to deal with switching locations varying so much in temperature?
How can I make the holidays special and get in the spirit when it feels like summer outside?
I’m just having a very difficult time adjusting! Thanks!

I've been able to figure out a few things in this new location to carry on old traditions--volunteering at a hospice, donating clothes and toys but it just doesn't feel right.

Well, you could do one of two things, either go with the new weather, or with the old!
Buy a tree, Get a can of flocking spray and use it on the tree, buy some fake snow and put it on or under the tree. Decorate the tree with snowflakes and icicles. Buy some white poinsettias, do whatever it takes to bring Christmas in Germany weather to the new location. Play your Christmas carols.
Or go with the new. You did not say where you are now, but go with something from there. For instance, if you ended up in the Arizona desert, get a fake stuffed cactus and put lights on it. Put desert theme ornaments on your tree, a cowboy hat for the tree topper, red bandannas for the bows. Making light of your situation might help, it would me.
Don't feel bad, I live in Illinois, and we have had mild weather for awhile now, it is supposed to be in the 40's Christmas Day. Great for travelers, and for those who have to work, not so great for the season. And we didn't even have to move to get the different weather! LOL!

Yes, I've dealt with switching temps and locations around the world (it was called Active Duty Military Career!). I grew up in the Chicago Area (where it is cold, bitter, and LOTS of snow!) ... and ...
When I started my Military Service -- I never ended up back there! Now ..
that I am FINALLY an Empty-Nesting Single Retiree ... I LOVE the fact that it was in the mid-70s this week so far (because ... it's allowed me to do the yardwork around my rural home comfortably) .. and ..
I DO NOT Miss the Bitter Cold, the 10-12 feet of snow piled up on the side of the road, shoveling off the drive, trying to find the car after it has been buried in snow overnight ...

over time you will get used to it and make new traditions. You will allways miss the snow if that is what you like but you will learn to live. I have the opposite problem i live in Ohi now and i am from a warm climate. Ihad to learn to adjust and just concentrate on the family and love in my hose rather than the wheather ouside. I hate snow and the cold and shoveling. It looks like it won't be white Christmas this year and i am so excited . Most people especially parents who bought sleds for their kids are not so happy.

Well, Christmas is Christmas, no matter the temperature outside.
I live on the central coast of Cali, and it can be kinda warm on Christmas sometimes.
And just think, it IS summer in Australia at Christmas time !!
Needless to say, I have never seen a white Christmas, EVER !!
