What are my chances for getting into a top tier business school? Right now I am an undergrad college Junior majoring in Liberal Studies with concentrations in Business, Social Sciences (cultural anthropology classes and international poli sci classes), and Languages (learning French and Italian). I am already fluent in spanish because I am half hispanic. I will also acquire a minor in Magazine Journalism. I am a Resident Assistant, and my current GPA is 3.68. This summer I really want to either study abroad or get an internship, but I have a lot of research to do about that! Which do you recommend?

Are the odds against me since I'm a Liberal Studies major? Should I switch to business even though it would require me to stay here longer? Please give me your honest advice, I'd really appreciate it!

What else should I do for this last year & a half to up my chances?

Thanks!

(Sorry about earlier, and no, that wasn't the question I specifically wanted you to answer..this one is =D )

GPA is important -- but less important for an MBA than for a PhD program. Your 3.68 won't keep you out of anywhere.

MBA programs like a lot of diversity in their students -- and not just racial diversity. They like people with diverse educational and work backgrounds. Your degree in Liberal Studies will not be a problem -- especially since you are doing a concentration in business.

The top programs want you to have work experience. On average, students have four years of experience. It is very difficult to get into a top school with less than two years. You could get in somewhere right out of college -- but it would be worth it for you to wait to get into a ranked school.

I can give you more detailed advice -- but need more information from you. If you send an Email to me at MarkTaranto@comcast.net then I will be happy to get back to you.

I'd like this information from you:

1. Where are you going to school now?

2. Tell me a little about the internship/study abroad opportunities

3. If you have taken the GMAT or GRE, let me know your scores. If not, let me know your SAT scores.

4. What kind of work are you thinking about doing right out of college?

5. What math/statistics classes have you taken?

6. Is there a partcular field in Business School that interests you?
