In my own perception, admire would be more along the lines of "to look up to," whereas "appreciate" can mean anything from acknowledging to enjoying. Adore is a lot like admire, only it doesn't carry the same heroic connotations. One who admires someone normally wants to be like that person, whereas one who adores someone might just like them for something they do. Like is a much vaguer term, generally referring to anything that is received with a positive reaction. And esteem, is much closer to "respect" than any of the others.

eg : Being away made me apperciate my family more.

Adore - To love someone very much, or to like something very much.
eg : She had always adored her father.
eg : i just adore pizza !

eg : Katie likes john a lot.

2. Like - If one thing or person is like another, it is almost the same as the other person or thing.
eg : i'd love to have a car like Diane's.

3. Like - Someone's likes and doslikes the things someone likes ant the things they do not like.
eg : What are your girlfriend's likes and dislikes ?
