We backed a military coup in Chile in the 1970s, in which the democratically elected ruler was overthrown by the army. We installed the Shah of Iran in power for years in Iran, and backed him. Before turning against Saddam Hussein in Iraq, we backed his regime. We supported the Contras in Nicaragua against the elected government, and supported the ouster of Lumumba in the Congo.

very just about all of South united statesa. at some time or yet another, the Philipines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, a great number of the middle East through Israel. of direction the U. S. could argue that those regimes have been/are democratic, which they have been; in case you communicate approximately a democracy to be something that murders and tortures people who disagree with it; which thinking the CIA rendition coverage and Guantanamo bay is as American as Apple Pie. And we could no longer ignore that shining beacon of yankee democracy, Iraq.

The US conducts foreign policy based on convenience. Although we'd all like to assume that human rights and the will of the oppressed takes precedence over economic and nationalist goals. The truth is that our government carries out actions that ultimately protect American interests... financial and military. This agenda is often carried out under the guise of another humanitarian facade like democracy or capitalism. Like Iraq, Americans were convinced to ouster an evil dictator, we installed,
to help Iraqis, yet we may have worsened it along with other countries.

Look how the US is doing business with Communist China, I just read that we are helping them to build new nuclear power reactors. This hopefully will help us to remain on the good side of China since they seem to be acting as North Korea's big brother during all these 6 party talks.
