Your iPOD has a 1 year manufacturers warranty that only covers manufacturer issues with your device. Example, if a button or the touchpad stops functioning properly through no fault of yours. If you caused the issue though, such as got it wet (no water or liquid of any kind is good for electronics) or broke the screen by stepping on it or falling on it (pressure break) then it won't be covered, for free anyway. You may be able to send it to them, and pay a fee to have them fix it. I would either call an Apple store or go in and ask one of the representatives if you can't find a 1-800 number to call on the website. But to directly answer you r question, if you mean can you compromise with the company by spending more money on one of thier products so they will fix your broken one, I can tell you they will not do that.
