Peter and Rosa, it was a short story in a volumn that I believe was called Winter's Tales. It was beautiful, and I think it might be some kind of classic, not sure.

I read it once when I was a child, and never was able to find it again.

Peter and Rosa were on a sheet of ice together, and all of a sudden the ice separated.

Anyone ever hear of it, or know who the author is? Thanks!

The author was Isak Dinesen. It is in Black Water edited by Alberto Manguel, published in 1983, as well from Winter's Tales published by Putnam in 1942.

I don't know what set off the previous poster. It wasn't that difficult to find though. I googled it and found the answer in a few seconds.

I hope you find it and enjoy it. If it is no longer in print, check Amazon.com, try Ebay or Alibris to find a copy.

Good Luck. I have many books I read as I child that I have found copies of over the years. I still read them and enjoy them.

Take care, and Happy Christmas.
