I guess that must sell movies in India

Its almost like a ritual without the Indian movie song it just would not be the same, (thank god for the fast forward button on the remote)......the producers actually make a lot of money from these songs millions and millions each year...............

This is a big part of the indian culture and without it, it would not be the same, and some of these songs are fantastically composed and the music is excellent..........but sometimes we dont need to see so many in 1 movie.....xxxx

it is the foundation to the 4 hour long movies,it shows their love for music and unity.
If you wanna watch indian movies without long singing and group dances in gardens,watch:
Rang De basanti(they sing on dangerous cliffs and racing bikes)
Kabul Express
Don(they sing in casinos and pan-shops)

That part of their movies stems from their cultural desires to have that in movies, much like american movies and violent gun scenes.

Public sexual intimacy is frowned on in Indian society, and forbidden in film. Love, attraction, etc. must be expressed tangentially. the musical lends itself to this.
