Since I'm a huge "Lord of the Rings" fan I was interested in seeing this movie but I'm a little wary of the previews.

No, although the books of the Inheritence trilogy and Lord of the Rings do show a few similarities Eragon is not a copy of LOTR. (I am a huge LOTR fan, so I do know the books) Also, if you want to see the Eragon movie I would HIGHLY recommend reading preferably both books first. Otherwise the movie may seem somewhat confusing and the concepts may be hard to grasp. Just my recommendtion.
Hope it helps,

I'm a HUGE Lord of the Rings fan. Huge!

And I loved Eragon. It met all my expectations.

Sure its not TOTAL EXTREME like LotR..
BUT, its still very well done. Not terribly original. But well done.

As a personal lover of fantasy/adventure movies, I recommend you see it.

(Don't get put off by the extreme negative remarks made by pre-movie book readers. I think they pay it out too much. (They're just upset because a story they loved was changed alot - which is understandable.)

On a scale of 1-10. If Lord of the Rings is 10. Then Eragon is about 8. : )

Hope you enjoy. :)

The character is not, the name is. Eragon is basically the setting, races, and names from lord of the rings. Then the author slapped the plot of star wars on it. Both are far superior.

No it doesn't rip off from it. It is actually from a best selling childrens book by christopher paolini about a boy who becomes the savior of a nation.

No, it's based on a children's fantasy book series that has reached mass-market popularity (kind of like the Harry Potter series did).

Everything I have heard is that it is just a rip-off of LOTR.
