I'm dating a guy who metioned he needed guitar picks. Well I know he likes the medium thickness, but I am clueless about guitars and I want to buy him some nice picks. What are the best brands?

i use dunlop picks exclusively (the ones with the alligator on them). they are pretty durable and i can hold on to them easier because they have a somewhat textured surface.

Listen to everyone who has answered. They're right! Jim Dunlop picks are the best. Simply said; regardless if you buy a mixed bag of thicknesses, he'll at least find a half dozen that he likes. That's worth a couple bucks for sure. He'll probably like the ol' fashioned gray ones at a .60mm rating.

dunlop! are best...you can find them in any guitar shop...try getting him some .38 ones those are abt medium thick but you can pretty much get anything within .38 and .96 cause the ones past those are really thick... good luck :)

Yeah Dunlap seams to be a great brand to use. Dave Matthews uses them while on tour and man they must be strong! Have A good one!
