Team Leader in a BPO is the interface between management, client and the team.

He should be able to overcome cultural/communication barriers to understand what client wants, relate the requirement to management objectives and then motivate team to achieve this in time without compromising on quality.

I have been a team leader in BPO during my career and believe me it is not easy. The three entities have completely different objectives and trying to keep all of them happy requires much more than educational skills..

Last but not the least expertise in the area of operation is a must..

Basic is...a degree, good marks help but not necessary.
Second is experience in BPO..having handled the work, the stress etc.
Third a cool head on firm shoulders...the ability to take stress not only your own but also the team's. There is no formal qualification for this.
Finally, a good sense of humor and the ability to persevere.
Good luck!!!
(PS: a lot of guys get into a BPO for all wrong reasons! Hope you aren't one of 'em)
