It really depends on how long snail mail would get to you, since that is usually how people send them. The starting point and destination would make a difference, too, and so would the time of year. Right now in the US the mail is going to take longer because of all the Christmas gifts going out.

Same as the postal service in your area. What happens is that someone purchases a money order and then they send it to you via the postal service and then you cash it like a cheque.
