I took it in to be fixed back in Feb. It wouldn't power up then, but it had been hit with a power surge (lightning, wouldn't you know, we had 2 outlets in our rental place that weren't properly grounded. The other one- well, we also lost our TV and new DVD player...anyway that's ancient history). The motherboard was replaced, and I think the hard drive, too. (Long story how it is that I'm not sure...) Now, suddenly, it does not turn on- the light comes on and it screams BEEEEEEP!!! BEEEEEP OH, AGONY, BEEEEP!!!! (Yes my computer is a total drama queen.) I've taken it in again and borrowed one for a few days, but I'd like more opinions on what's wrong than just the service guy's.

Those beeps you're hearing will actually tell you where the problem lies.... Count the beeps and let us know (i.e. three short beeps, or two long beeps and one short). you can also yahoo search and find out what the beeps mean... sometimes it can be specific to a computer or motherboard brand....my suspicions would be either motherboard or your memory (RAM). Good luck :)

first lets hope you got surge protector power strips after that first fiasco and you had them plugged in constantly. It sounds like its not recognizing the motherboard again.
