There's many written on the subject. To me, there's no yardstick for measurement for happiness - what is happiness and how much is enough. Level of happiness depends on the individual, how contended and satisfied one is with what one has. A nice house and car might be the ultimate to some but not necessary to others. I have these 5 simple rules for happy living:
1. free your heart from hatred
2. free your mind from worries
3. live simply
4. give more
5. expect less

I dont think there are any certain rules when it comes to happiness. This is something that we have to do for ourselves. No one else can set down and tell you how and when to be happy. Life is a gamble, either make it good or bad. Choose well.

What kind of happiness? Are you looking for a path, my suggestion is Omar Kiam, or "World as Will and Representation" by Arthur Schopenhauer, or the Bible, Old and New testament.

get it straight, there are NO ground rules for happiness. how you take life events determines whether happiness prevails or sadness looms large.
if only we can give up on false pleasures of this world, true happiness at the feet of Lord, living God. as King David say's "In His presence there is fullness of joy, at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore." damn this world and it's pleasures.

Yes, it's inside you. Happiness only comes from within.

I like the book of psalms..... it is a song, actually, which speaks on many topics...... It is like reading poetry... and it is beautiful....
There is also a book in Scripture written by Abraham about how beautiful his wife is to him...... He just writes about how much he was in love with that woman........

Ginger

I hope this quote should be in the book you mentioned, "All happiness is in the mind." (English proverb). Take care.
