The guy at Samuel's said all they use on diamonds is warm water and Mr. Clean. I was shocked, but my wifes engagement ring sparkles like new.

I keep my fine jewelry very clean and everyone always notices! I use a commercial jewelry cleaner, the kind that comes in a container with a little basket and brush. Dip the jewelry (or soak it a few minutes if it is really dirty), and brush thoroughly with the little brush. Rinse with HOT water and give it another brushing. Rinse again in hot water and voila, sparkly diamonds and gold!

I even keep jewelry cleaner at my workplace, and my friends hand me their diamonds to clean for them!

The best thing I've found is putting your ring in a cup, covering it with dishwashing soap (Palmolive is what I use), a small amount of warm water and leaving it there for several hours. It seems to get all the dirt off and my ring is always sparkly!
