I haven't done so well in high school but I really want to get into a legitimate college, nothing like DeVry or any of those vocational colleges that advertise on television or claim to allow students to earn a bachelor's degree in less than 4 or 3 years.

So, I plan to attend a community college, Diablo Valley College, and then transfer to another college to earn a bachelor's degree in computer science or whatever. Right now, I'm doing quite well in my senior year except that I earned a D for my first quarter of German. I'm really planning on trying to get a B or higher on every grade.

But, here's what I've done wrong:

- I earned D's in physiology during my junior year semesters.
- I earned one D in math.

If I plan on transferring from DVC, will I ever be accepted by any good college? I don't plan on going to any prestigious schools such as Stanford, Harvard, etc. I just want to get into a good college. Will I be accepted? Any advice provided is appreciated.

If you work hard while you are in community college, other schools will take that into consideration. I think if you go there for two years and get good grades, you should be able to transfer to a decent school when you are done.

You'll give yourself a leg up and save a lot of money by going the community college route. There are many programs that I'm aware from in which Comm Colleges work directly with Universities to structure transfer programs. I'm in a Bio transfer program, now, and I've even received a scholarship to help me through my last few units and cover my first few quarters at University. They're lots of ways to get to your goals, everyone finds their own path. Good luck, and hang in there!

Schools like devry and other trade schools are out to make money. They'll go far to get anybody into their schools. For 4 yr colleges they have point system that award you point by combining SAT or other entrance exams and GPA. School counselors have those information. But if you want to go to Harvard, Stanford...etc you better either ace SAT, have parents who are billionaire (colleges like that) or win nobel prize or something. But I have seen people go to graduate school without graduating from 4yr college. If you fall behind in something like GPA or SAT you better show the college you parents might donate millions of dollars to the college or find other ways to make them really be interested in you.

if you try really hard this year (you senior year) and your foirst couple years at ur Jc then yes. my mom didnt have the best grades either, so she went to cal poly pomona for a quarter, did really well and switched to UCLA with my dad. you have to try hard...and the harder you try the better the school....and i understand that you dont want to go to a top school, so even transferring to a state school, cal poly pomona for example, is a great thing to conseider. plus this will save money.

good luck in school!
