Here is the grade breakdown:
40% - quizzes
15% - midterm
15% - final
20% - lab grades
5% - lab project
5% - notebook

I got all the points on the notebook, 80% on the lab project, 80% on the lab grades, 62% on the midterm, 47.3% on the quizzes, but I do not know the final grade...I think I got a 63%.

What will my grade be with these percentages?

I do believe that I got a 63% on the final. With these grades, I think I should get a 62% for my final grade. Am I right?

At my school, failing is a 59.9 and below. If I got a 62.2, I passed!

My teacher has written down that I failed. How is that possible? Her grading scale is:
A: 90-100
B: 80-89
C: 70-79
D: 60-69
F: 59 and below

D is passing...why did she mark me as failing?

By my calculations you have a 62.67 average, which puts you at a final grade of D. It appears that you have a valid argument that I would ask your teacher to prove out for you.

you need to talk 2 the teacher nicely. If you have been in class etc.. always and really tried she should help you make up by doing xtra credit. I am a teacher and I would do that for my students if they really tired and put a lot of effort into the class. Some people just don't do well on tests and science. talk to your teacher, make sure u have all your work in front of you.

Sorry to tell you, but you are right. You should be getting a 63. I would start asking for extra credit if I were you.

You need to calculate a wighted average. Multiply the points by the grade breakdown, then add them up.

lab project.. 0.8 * 0.05
lab grades.. 0.8 * 0.20
midterm.. 0.62 * 0.15
and so on...
