Bass is a GREAT instrument to learn because there are tons of bands out there looking for a bassist. It's not as glam as the other instruments, but it might be the most important for setting the groove. It takes great rhythm and feel...it's also one of those sounds that makes your whole body vibrate, which other than a kick drum or bass synth, not many instruments can do. Regardless, the more instruments you know, the better the musician you'll be. I suggest you not decide by which is easiest, but by the one that feels best when you try to play it (or by whatever has that sound for which you're searching).

Try some 12 bar blues. Bass patterns on that are easy, repetitive, and fun. You can really get into a groove with yhr drummer, and lock right in.

"Epistrophy" by Thelonious Monk. (but it's only easy if you know how to play a bass well.

otherwise, try something like "Rock around the clock" by Bill Hailey.
