Get "The Writer's handbook" and check under the poetry secetion to see what the requriements are.

Well? I think you should first write lots of poems. Then choose the good, better and the best! After that submit it to one of the popular magazines in you place. Go there personally or you can just send a snail mail. I'm sure the editor of that magazine will be glad. GO!!

You should invest in a book called "writer's market", I think there is one specifically for poetry as well. You can get it at Barnes and Noble or just about any book store. It tells you of magazines that are ligit that you can try to submit poetry to. I wouldn't advise you to submit your stuff to those oh so common poetry contests. Usually they are trying to get you to buy stuff.
