it depends on the book. You should be able to get it though its pretty self explanatory. exposition is the introduction, it is telling the reader who the characters are and what there life is like. Conflict is the problem every book has a conflict, its what the plot is based around. Rising action are the events leading up to the conflict. (all the things that go wrong in the book) Climax is the high point of the story where the conflict is confronted. falling action is the part of a book where the police put the bad guy in jail, the part where all the things come together. and the resolution usually has some type of message, if you dont want to be in jail like the bad guy..dont sell crack to kids. Resolution is also known as the conclusion.

Exposition: Introduction to the characters, setting, and basic plot. Rising Action: Any events that occur leading up to the climax. Climax: The highest point of tension in a story. "The moment before the branch snaps" sort of deal. Falling Action: Events after the climax, beginning to close the story, and leading to the resolution. Resolution: Resolving of the immediate conflict in the story. They do NOT always resolve the MAIN conflict. EX: Harry Potter. It should tie up any loose ends in the story, unless they are tied up in a later book. I just read the person below me. The denoument (sp) is another word for the resolution, not the climax.

these are all terms used to describe the structure or shape of a story, sometimes called "story arc," "plot line," or "narrative structure."

the exposition sets the scene: setting and characters are introduced.

conflict is exactly what it sounds like: a conflict. a problem. the plot. "man vs. man," "man vs. nature," etc.

rising action? again, just what you think it is. the conflict grows, or becomes more involved, i.e., heightened or "rising."

climax is the pinnacle, zenith, or acme of the plot. the conflict has been pushed as far as it can go, and so must be resolved, which leads to the...

falling action (aka "denouement") and resolution, i.e., the end.
