Who ever said that all white people came from Europe. Who every it was is wrong. I am white. I am classified as a Caucasian, but I am half Cherokee Indian and half French. So should I be called a Cherokee-French- American? And then tell me how I am supposed to know exactly what everyone elses heritage is so I can call them by the correct terminology.

African Americans are called that because that is what they are most comfortable with. Since most white people are such a diverse mix of nationalities, most are just happy being called white. I don't think that you can trace any ones bloodline straight through one nationality that lives here in the United States.

So true. They call other minorities that but white people call each other Americans, even the real Americans are called Native Americans.

Well blacks should really be called blacks these days and whites should just be called whites, because in africa there are native white people and middle eastern people so the term isn't politically correct.

I don't see why anybody should be tagged with any type of name as that since life originated in the middle-east anybody anywhere else in the earth is not native to the land, all life moved from the middle-east outward, everyone is an immigrant where they live, simple as that.

They can if they want to be. Blacks were disconnected violently from their land. There is a difference. That is why some choose to be referred to as African American. Some not all.

Similar to how on TV when they speak about other races or religions they would title it, for example "A young Muslim female was hit by a car.." or "An African-American male escaped death by..".
It is subconsciously racist and it aggravates the best of us.

Because just like there are black people who were not born in Africa, there are white people who were not born in Europe. The whole, "what do I call this person" racket is a joke. People are just looking to be offended nowadays. Check this:

it defies the "meltingpot" ideology. it also separates and divides us...which is a weakness.

the blanket term "White" is unifying.

Unlike other Americans who insist upon being classified as a unique sect of the overall grouping that describes a culture or language, Whites have fully assimilated and lost many valuable languages and traditions.

It is bitter sweet.

Sometimes, if they live in the USA, white people are called "Caucasian-Americans".
