Does anyone else think that wrestling is going over the top?

We all know it's fake and all, But isn't it getting just a bit ridiculous??

Alright, well...to try and answer this as thoroughly as possible without sounding like a total moron....here goes

Wrestling has been over the top in WWF/E for years, and I haven't really enjoyed anything I've watched in WWF/E since i was about 11. Frankly, some things in wrestling are over the top and its all a matter of how it's marketed.

I disaggree with the way the WWE has done things, because in this day and age the time for silly gimmicks and the male soap opera has passed.

Many independent promotions are now focusing more on the skill and talent that some of these athletes posess rather than brute strength and marketability. Granted, having a fun gimmick, or a brilliant moveset makes a wrestler easier to get behind.

And frankly, sometimes depending on how it's presented, over the top can be fun and campy. If I may recommend Chikara Pro out of Pennsylvania (www.smartmarkvideo.com). They have a Lucha inspired product, which employs some of the most over the top and rediculous characters I've ever seen...but it's because they are so over the top that its great. Like a cheesy horror flick.

Most importantly, I'd like to cover this facade that wrestling is fake, and I want to do it in an intelligent way...shocking, I know this sounds impossible, right? Well first lets examine the theory that everything is pre planned. This is absolutely untrue, as although the finish of the match may be predetermined and the outcome is always predetermined the majority of the match has been filled in by the workers.

The end goal is to put on a show, that resembles a real fight. The chairs aren't fake, they aren't wrestling on a large trampoline, and everything legitimately hurts. The difference is, when you are trained how to fall correctly, it doesn't hurt nearly as much.

In the future, I'd suggest saying it's predetermined, and not fake...as any wrestler who hears you tell them it's fake will likely ask you to take a chop.

anyway...the short answer - wrestling has been over the top for years, you're just now noticing it.

The thing with DX was over the top.For a minute I was like "what just happened" and I thought of all the wrestlers who were seriously injured.Then I was like "I know that's not real but that was brutal."I was kinda thought they were hurt for a minute.
