which question do want answered? War on Terror or War in Iraq. they are two separate things.
The War on terror is pointless. Every terrorist we kill provides several new recruits. to quote Desmond Tutu, "Peace cannot come from the barrel of a gun."
fighting fire with fire doesn't work. Use water instead.
As for the War in Iraq, my 2003 opinion has been proved right: we never should have invaded, but waited for the weapons inspection to be completed and accepted the results.
Unfortunately, it took the US government more then 100,000 deaths to realize that (Iraqis too, remember?)

My Thoughts:
Before we invaded, Iraq was not part of the War on Terror. Afghanistan was the front line, and the location of Bin Laden and Al Qaeda. After we invaded, tons of Muslim extremists got pissed and came to Iraq to fight jihad. Now it is part of the War on Terror only because we are attracting terrorists to Iraq like magnet. Now it seems like Sunni based al Qaeda in Iraq is fighting the Shiite Mahdi army because they know we will eventually leave, and they both want to control Iraq when it happens. The American troops are in the middle trying to fight both, and they don't seem to have a very clear strategy for any sort of victory. This is why the fighting is so intense right now. In the United States, the debate is how early we can pull troops out and leave Iraq to it's own destiny. That sends a clear message that we are leaving soon. If tomorrow morning we woke up, and the troops all left Iraq, we would leave it to the extremists to fight it out. Iraq would probably become the scene of the most horrific violence in human history. The government would collapse, and the world would see what a real civil war looks like. Iraq would become a proxy war between Saudi Arabia and Iran. A regional war would probably erupt that we would have to be a part of because we started it, by then Israel would probably be involved, and something close to Armageddon would probably happen.

The war on terror? It is sad that the supposed peace seeking nation is strapping bombs on themselves and sacraficing themselves based on lies they were fed from birth.
I agree, the war on terror and the war with Iraq are two different things. The war on Terror does not ONLY include Iraq. It is a fact that those who bombed America in 9/11 (which is what started the War on Terror, you may remember) were from Saudi Arabia, as Well as Iraq and other small nations.
The war inIraq is different. The War in Iraq had a few purposes, or more accuratly, lies told to America to try and justify the war. The first was weapons of mass distruction which the american people had no reason to not believe... until some government officials started to come out and say there were no weapons of mass distruction. Besides that, you want weapons of mass distruction? Iran is closer to that than Iraq.
Well, Sadaam has been captured. He was a horrible dictator. Yes, he did horrible things no one can dispute this. But he has been rotting in America for some time now.
Another reason was changing their government into a puppet-democracy. Why do I call it a puppet democracy? Because a democracy by definition means power to the people. For example in American government, a Republic Democracy, the people have the power and they transfer their power to their elected officials who make decisions for them. Democracy's work off of majority votes. When you have over 40,000 people killing themselves or getting killed in an attempt to rid Iraq of America and Democracy then that is forcing power to the people which undermines what a democracy is. Aside from my personal oppinions on this matter, our government seems to be content with the government that they have put into place.
What will be next week's excuse as to why we are still In Iraq? I don't know. Ridding Iraq of flying pigs? Or will Bush finally admit to America the real reason, if any, of why we have been spending well over a million dollars a day on a war that has no seeming purpose or end in sight?
What do I think about the war in Iraq? I can think of a four letter word that starts with the letter C and is another name for poop.

Iraq was a stepping stone in the war on terror. It got us that much closer to the root of terrorism, Iran. You may believe this or not, makes no difference to me, but Iran always WAS the objective in going into Iraq. I know how much certain folks will be disappointed that it wasn't payback for the attempts on GHW Bush..lol...I laughed the first time I heard someone say that.
Facts are facts, Iran is the sponsor of terrorism in modern times, they have been heavy at it since the late 60s - early 70s. Iraq IS winnable if we really go to war, stop calling terrorism a criminal act and start calling these attacks, acts of war.

We should never have started the Iraq war True Saddam needed to go But that was the job of the Iraqi people. We should have given them the weapons they needed to do the job themselves Our fight was in Afghanistan against Bin-laden and his followers We still have yet to find him So this whole war on terrorism has just been a big farce in my opinion We never finished what we stated out to do Instead we invade Iraq and make things even worse there

You can agree or disagree - but make no mistake about it - Iraq has become the center of our war on terror. If we lose in Iraq, for any reason, we will have lost the war on terror, period.
The results of losing this war to a bunch of murdering, demented Islamic radicals will prove to them that their tactics of terror and murder are successful - and people don't abandon success.

Iraq is forced to indulge in civil war. Terrorist may belong to any nation, any religion, any sect and any area. so there is no hard and fast rule that only muslims/christians/jewsor any other nation is terrorist. but before we decide who is terrorist, let us decide what is terrorism?? isnot it terrorism to threat any nation's soverinty.... is not it terrorism to capture some one's area and declare your own state.... is not it terrorism to capture a nations' resources and force them to remain in civil war....
if a wuropian/american or israeli dies it becomes terrorism and if iraqi/palistinian /afghani/koraean/irani/japneas die, it is justified...... how? and why?

I agree with the assessment of the President and Robert Gates.
As the president has made clear," Gates said, "we simply cannot afford to fail in the Middle East. Failure in Iraq at this juncture would be a calamity that would haunt our nation, impair our credibility and endanger Americans for decades to come
