Dangerous but this is how.
Put a couple of inches of water in the soda bottle.
Get a piece of dry ice small enough to fit through the top of the bottle.
Wrap the dry ice is a piece of cotton.
Tie a string around the the cotton, so you can lift both the cotton cloth and dry ice, without the dry ice dropping out.
Put the cotton & ice in the bottle such that it is hanging in the middle of the bottle and NOT near the water in the bottom of the bottle.
Put the cap on the bottle (this will also hold the string in place). Make sure the cap is on TIGHT.
From VERY FAR AWAY, tip over the bottle and wait for the booom

Yes, watch Mythbusters. As the dry ice [solid carbon dioxide] subliminates the gas expands to a point beyond which the bottle can contain it.

Just drop the dry ice into a bottle. It works the same.

Yes, I read that you can. However, I read it in a copy of the Darwin Awards, so keep that in mind before you start fooling around with it. If you do, DON'T use hot water--that's what got the guy into the Darwins. The bomb went off while he was making it. Warm water gives enough lag time to get away without taking so long it's boring.

You can but dude don't ******* do it. I did so and my door was kicked in by a bunch cops armed to the teeth with assault rifles. It might be fun to watch the bottle blow but seriously don't do it. It's not gonna be worth felony charges

Yes you can, but they can be dangerous if you aren't careful. I
t was kind of funny. Someone here in Redding made one and put it on a walking path. They had to call the bomb squad from another county to ask them what to do. They finally put a blanket over it and hit it with a hammer...lol. It was overcast and wasn't in danger of going off...Good ol' Redding...
