Not all dryers have buzzers either. It is less expensive and easier to put a buzzer on a dryer than on a washer. Just the nature of the way a dryer motor works makes it easy to put a signal buzzer on a dryer. If you were to put one on a washer you would need special contacts on either the motor or timer or both.

The buzzer is to remind you to get your clothes out before they wrinkle.

Because if you leave clothes in the dryer after it shuts down, the clothes will get wrinkled. If you leave clothes in the washer, it doesn't matter.
