Commitment on YOUR part is important!
Commit in such a way that you imply, "I love you, no matter what." If you will only be committed if the other person commits in return, you have made no true commitment.
If YOU make such a commitment, two things may happen:
1. The other person will not return your love, but you have done your part.
2. The other person will return your feelings with a commitment that equals yours. When both partners feel like they are the one who loves the most, you have a true union.
In other words, don't worry about what the other person may or may not do... make your own commitment and be satisfied that you have made an important decision. The results of that decision are not in your hands, but I guarantee that you will be satisfied with the outcome in the due course of time.

yes, in every way imaginable. not just marriage. but all forms of relationships. imagine how it would have been if your parents weren't committed to raising you. like if they forego your college fees and nutrition for manicures and refurbishing the house. or like how your friends keep blowing you off whenever something better comes up. or if your lover can rationalize sleeping around because he/she isn't "getting any". so i would say commitment is the invisible glue that keeps people together, the essence of a relationship.

yes it is, when you commitment to someone whether you are dating or married, you are to be only with that person. I think that is why so many marriages are breaking up today. People are just not willing to be with one person. When you comminment to the person its just like you signing a contract, but contracts can be broken, so here comes the atroneys and the judge.
