Babylon 5 all the way - definitely the best. And let's not forget the spin-off Crusade which was decent as well.
The original Star Trek would be second best.
I'd also put Space 1999 on that list. Also, the syndicated series War of the Worlds (lasted two years).
Let's not forget Buck Rogers in the 25th Century which ran for several years back in the late '70's.
The original Battlestar Galactica was so much better than the one that's on now, its unbelievable. Starbuck as a woman? I think not. And, they even tried to finish the series with Galactica 1980 which at least provided a sense of finality.
Much prefer the new Dr. Who to the original though.

Star Trek: The Next Generation is my favorite. It had something for anyone, didn't lose Gene Rodenberry's vision, and actually advanced the ideas of exploring who we (humans) are in relationship to each other and the universe. The acting was superbly first class and some of the scripts were just wonderfully insiteful and well written. Bravo.

I'd put B5 #1, then a tie at second with Firefly/Serenity and the new BSG.

celeb Trek: the subsequent Gen... suitable one yet. I enjoyed Firefly (too undesirable there became in basic terms one million season) & Buffy (season 5 and after) too. X-data became ok interior the beginning up, even though it have been given corny after a whilst.

Firefly was so perfect for getting non-sci-fi lovers to give the genre a chance. I've made all my friends watch Serenity to prove that all sci-fi isn't "all that bad".
