I do not think there is anything wrong with being a cheerleader. It may be a bit biased because I was a cheerleader for 8 years, but before I become one, I had stereotype in my head, and I never wanted to be one of those blonde slutty cheerleaders. Well, cheerleading is not about being blonde or slutty! It takes a lot of hard work, sweat, and determination, and many people don't understand that. It is a sport, and there are cheerleading competitions. I was very shy, and cheerleading made me become a social butterfly and showed me I have worth! Try out for cheerleading! It is good for your body and good for your mind. Keep in mind, it is not all fun and games, and you must have the strength and endurance to keep up. It is dangerous and tough, no quitters allowed!!

i think, if you're looking to break out, cheerleading might not be the best start - i used to be one, and they're highly overrated, at least, they are at my school. it's a lot more work than it seems, and its difficult to keep up if you've neevr had similar experience, but it's a fun sport, and if you're up to new things, cheerleading can be one of them.

It depends on your situation, ShYgIrL. Cheerleading is a very outgoing, almost brash activity. It can also be very political, with lots of cliques and general bad humour, depending on your school.
You know what you want, and what you want your reputation to be in school. It might be perfect for you, or it might be horrible, but if you don't try you won't know.

The idea appalls me. Cheerleading is the most dangerous of ANY U.S. sport (proven by statistics). If "getting out of your shell" is what interests you, try starting up conversations with your peers and classmates. Maybe pursue a different sport, one that is safer and less of a blow towards feminism.

I'm not big on it...rather annoying actually, but it's certainly a good way to get out of your shell. Just be prepared to yell REALLY loud.

I think that it would be a good move for you. I encouraged my daughter in this way when she was a teen. It really helped!
