There is no real successful way of inducing labor on your own. We had 4 pregnancies and most were born past their "Due Date" which in really more like a due month 2 weeks before your due date and 2 weeks after is the norm (only 10% of children are born on their due date). We tried everything including those just mentioned earlier. We even took a ride on an old 1943 fire truck ( I was a volunteer fireman in college.) Nothing really worked. If you do go into labor it will be fine as that 38-42 week period is considered on time Obstetrically. But unless induced medically your baby will come when all the factors are in place and he is ready to emerge.

Okay, if you have had your labor stopped then there is a reason that the doctor stopped it. Trust me, they stopped my labor the first time I went into labor, kept me in the hospital for almost 2 weeks on bedrest, then I went home, and a week later I went back into labor anyway. My daughter was born at 35 weeks and she was still in the NICU for over a month, then had surgery, and she developed an infection and had to go back and stay for 2 weeks, and I didn't even try to induce my labor!!

It could be dangerous for you and your unborn child to try to induce labor yourself. You have had your preterm labor stopped for a reason. It may be safe to deliver early but unless it is medically necessary I would definitely advise against it. Your doctor knows what he/she is doing. Absolutely NO LAXATIVES! My great aunt was given castor oil (this was back long ago) it caused her to go into labor and she died in labor before the baby was born. Your baby needs the time inside for its own health and well-being. You should take this time to prepare. You need plenty of rest, good food, and to anticipate the birth of a healthy baby and mom. I have given birth to 4 children. My water broke and my son was born two weeks early. The Pitocin(drug given) caused the labor to be much harder and more painful. He was born with a breathing problem and he was jaundiced. He also acquired an infection . All of which was difficult for him and quite frightening for me. Take advice from someone thats been there, take your time and I truly pray that you have a healthy baby and safe delivery.

I would not push yourself into ;abor. Sometimes it makes it harder when the labor is enduced some how or another. They told me to eat spicy foods, and take a hot bath. You can try that. And they also told me to have sex. They said that those things somtimes work. But good luck. I know how it is.. I was ready to go into labor at that time too. But I made it to my due date. I actually had my daughter the day after my due date. But it just all depends. Ya know?

38 weeks you should be ok if you go into labor. Be careful on inducing it yourself. I tried a laxative and that did not work, tried sex, walking, steps, more sex nothing worked for me. Babies are going to come when they want. Good Luck.

You really can't induce your own labor despite all the myths. Sex somewhat helps & also nipple stimulation. When the baby is ready, he/she will come. Best wishes.

I know that you are miserable but you only have 2 wks to go! Do not rush things tooo fast...your baby may need some more time to develope!!! He/she will come when they're ready!!! Just sit back and enjoy the peace and quite because it will change when that baby comes!!!
