A particle is 5m east of origin and moving at west at 2m/s.5seconds later it is 11m east of the origin.what was its acceleration?

I will assume a constant acceleration.

Also, easterly motion is positive and westerly is negative.

v(t)=a*t+k

v(0)=-2m/s
-2=k

v(t)=a*t-2

x(t)=a*t^2-2t+L

x(0)=5

L=5

x(.5)=11
11=a*.5^2-2*.5+5

7/.5^2=a

a=28m/s^2
