I have a ten gallon goldfish tank. I've noticed it before, but it's never been quite so bad. The front panel of glass is bowing quite badly. How do I fix this?

The goldfish are fine. Tiny little things. Had them for a couple months. Bi weekly water changes.

Tanks not that old...i bought it in september/october.

The bowing starts at the top, where it's at it's worst but it gets smooth and flat towards the bottom.

Yes, I'm sure it's not a bowfront tank.

Oo I would get a new tank.
Is the frame on the top intact, like the border? If not, that may be the cause of the bowing, because that frame keeps the tank together. You could try to make one with two strips of solid plastic, but frankly, you'd be easier off just getting another tank. You can get them used for like 10$.

Also... goldfish don't belong in 10 gallon tanks. Even small fancy goldfish need 15-20 gallons of water per fish to cope with the amount of ammonia they produce and the amount of oxygen they need.

A 10 gallon tank should not bow more than 1/8" at most. The reason it is bowing is because some tank manufacturers try to save costs by using thinner glass.

This is why I will only purchase All-Glass or Oceanic tanks as their quality is leaps and bounds above the rest.

Yes, I agree. You should buy another tank. Aww... I love goldfish. I have a 55 gallon goldfish tank. Its quite nice and my fish have a lot of room.

Maybe consider upgrading to a 20? Im sure your fish would be happy!

Well good luck with the tank, i dont know a way to fix the bowing. Sorry. I suggest a new an improved tank. : )

Take it back and get a new one. Goldfish will be fine in the tank, you may just have to do more frequent water changes. Make sure not to use a heater or it will raise the temperature of the water, which will cause the fish to speed up there metabolism and the tank will get dirtier faster.

there are bowfront tanks.. are you sure it didn't come like that?
is it glass?
a 10 gallon tank shouldn't bow unless it was design to.

Talk to a pet shop clerk about it, but the only thing I can think of is silicone sealant. Clean out the tank. Dry the tank. Put the silicone around each edge and let dry well.

If it's bowing a lot it may be a Japanese tank. You could always bow back.

Or did you mean bowing as in becoming convex?
