To be socially capable, work as a team, in groups or alone. Master algebraic questions and a solid background in science. And of course, number one...to READ and WRITE properly.

I do not want my child to be taught ethics or religion in school. There are just too many variables involved. I do realize that some children do not have the advantage of learning these things at home, but just the same, for my own children I would prefer they not be taught in public schools. GBYou

Being in school still, I can answer this easily. The answer is: social skills. Math is useful, and history will take them far, but at school they really get to interact with different people. As a chiild get older, they learn how to deal with more issues on their own. That's the most important skill a kid learns.
But if you were thinking subject: math. Math is important and everybody uses it every day.

I wish they could learn good old-fashioned common sense as well as personal finance. Kids coming out of school today have no clue about how to handle everyday situations or money.

In school and in life .. first of all...Honesty and Integrity.. Reading, Writing, and Mathematics would be helpful after that..
