Hugs, a thoughtful gift, community service, a nice note, a sweet comment. You should show love the way you feel most comfortable with, but try to be open to how others need love to.
We all have different love languages.

I show people I love them by paying attention to what kinds of things they are interested in and doing those things with them.

I also show people I love them by getting them gifts/sending cards every now and then to see how they're doing and let them know I care...or just being there for somebody.

You show love by telling the truth. Telling people how you feel shows that you trust them. Sometimes telling the truth is hard, especially if it is painful or embarrassing. But I think it is the most loving thing you can do.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. Love is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

Some say love, it is a river that drowns the tender reed.
Some say love, it is a razor that leaves your soul to bleed.
Some say love, it is a hunger, an endless aching need.
I say love, it is a flower, and you it's only seed.

It's the heart, afraid of breaking, that never learns to dance.
It's the dream, afraid of waking, that never takes a chance.
It's the one, who won't be taken, who cannot seem to give.
And the soul, afraid of dying, that never learns to live

For my husband, I defer to his preferences, do things his way for the most part; For my friends, I do what I can for them, and give gifts, usually small ones, but things I know they'll like, and not usually at a normal gift-giving time like birthday or Christmas.
