Because hamsters are very small, nocturnal (night-active) and not closely observed, the early signs of illness are frequently overlooked or not noted at all. Hamster owners must be constantly vigilant for signs of illness and must seek immediate veterinary assistance when illness is suspected.
Sick hamsters often become irritable and frequently bite. They are usually reluctant to move about and walk stiffly when forced to do so. Their eyes often look dull and sunken, and frequently have a discharge. Sick hamsters often stop eating or greatly reduce their intake of food. Consequently, weight loss is a common sign (not necessarily an easy one to recognize) of illness in hamsters. Fluid losses from diarrhea also may cause marked weight loss. Sudden intestinal disease (with accompanying diarrhea) is the most common illness of hamsters, especially among those being weaned or recently weaned. If the serious accompanying dehydration is not recognized immediately and corrected with appropriate fluid therapy at the direction of a veterinarian, death is probable.

Welcome to the world of hamsters. It is probably a fear issue and this is VERY common with hamsters. Move slow and be very consistent with handling him, though he bites. Just do it as often as you can and work through his fear issues and biting. If you don't flinch or back down and handle him gently. He will grow to trust you and become desensitized to the fear factor and your touch. Plus give him treats and make him take them out of your hand as to gain that trust.
Good luck ;)

my hamster bit once. After that, what i did was Got a box, put it in the cage, and waited for it to hop in. after it did, i took the box out, and waited for the hamster to come out. after it did, it would sit on my lap, and just got it to let it get to know me better. and understand im not tryin to hurt it. and it went along fine. try wearing gloves when u handle it. and after a while, take em off.
good luck!

Hampsters are hard to tame. esp. drawf hampsters. I had mine 3 years before he was tame enough to let me hold him, and another who was so mean i gave him away. But you need to find a pair of thick gloves and get him used to being handled.

When i had a hamster that always bit me i put Tabasco sauce on my fingers to detour him from biting me. It took about a month to train him. Also make sure he has treats to chew because they need to keep there teeth maintained

Oh gosh...I have the same problem with my she-hamster. Maybe we can hook them up together!Try wearing gloves and give an alltime favorite treat.Banana chips are the best.Or any carrot, bread, dried oatmeal,or white rice will do.Give him little toys.

Do something Madea would do , But don't kill him .
If he tries calling the PoPos , hit him so hard , he'll dial 919 .
Or Just Pimp Slap Him .
Just don't hit him hard .
