I have lower back pain during my period, and my stomach really hurts too. Its mostly my back that really bothers me though. The lower back, and the pain kind of wraps around to where (im guessing) my ovaries are on either side. Any suggestions?

I have the same thing too. Try Motrin - start taking it the day before your period or a day or two prior to when the pain usually starts to come on. It is safe to take up to 800 mg. every 6 - 8 hours. Usually 600-800 mg. will stop the ache. The smaller doses may lessen it but won't eradicate it. A heating pad feels good too. Thermacare puts out heated pads you can wear under your clothes which is convenient but costly. Also, the lower back pain is often caused by a "tipped" uterus. Nothing to be alarmed about - its very common and isn't a problem. It's just basically your uterus is tilted more. Therefore, instead of getting the cramps in the front, us "tilted" ladies get the cramps in the lower back. This often corrects itself after childbirth. But again, its nothing to be alarmed about, just a simple anatomical issue for the most part. Hope this helps!

I used to get horrible clots during my period, and when I was passing one of those clots was when my back and stomach hurt the worst. I would always take naproxin or ibuprofin because both are anti-inflammatories that also can thin the blood a little. Not much, but it helped enough.

After years of dealing with it, and having horrible mood swings because of my hormones being out of sorts, my doctor suggested birth control pills. That was the best decision I ever made. Literally, nothing is half as bad as it used to be. Now, the only time I have a cramp is when I'm passing a clot, and they are much smaller than before and much less painful. It may help you if you are not on BC, and if you are you may need a different kind. Talk to your doctor and see what he/she thinks about it.

I HIGHLY reccommend naproxin (or...neproxin...I don't actually remember how to spell it;something like that).
This pill works AMAZINGLY for me. It is just like an ibeprofin, but better.
I would suggest asking your doctor about it, because if you have any stomach problems, you might not be able to take naproxin.
Good luck!

I have this problem, too, it sooo sucks.
I take an Aleve, and that usually helps, but you've got to find the pain killer that's right for you, like I'm immune to Tylenol, but I hope this helps!

Wow, I get the same thing too!! Advil or Motrin helps real well for me. Tylenol is whimpy stuff for that time of the month. It does nothing for me.

I always take Ibuprofen the day before I start to kind of boost my body and keep it from getting inflamed.
But you might want to call your doctor's office and talk to one of the nurses to see what they recommend you take since they know you better than I do.

Same thing happens to me. I use tiger balm on my lower back where it hurts. That usually gives great results.
