It can CERTAINLY have an effect on your pregnancy. If your posture is bad, that could mean more strain on your back. Subluxations of your spine can mean that the nervous system doesn't work quite right. Having your spine in line and your body in balance can make for an easier pregnancy and an easier labor.

Consider seeing both a massage therapist and a chiropractor during your pregnancy.

That is an old wives tale used by mothers to scare their children into obedience. I mean unless you are bent like a pretzel what is it going to do. When you are further along you may experience back pain but so does everyone else in the last months of pregnancy. Enjoy this pregnancy, and let it be a celebration of your femininity. No Man has ever truly experienced what you will feel physically but also emotionally. Do not let anything get in the way of this experience. Savor it like treat that just rolls around on your tongue and brings you such great joy and to your psyche as a woman fulfilled in a very special way. Oh there will be moments of discomfort and maybe even some occasional regret, but this is a very unique time of your life, live it to the fullest.

Ok, I'm going to assume you want a vaginal birth...it doesn't really matter how you sit if you're planning a c-section.

Sitting leaning slightly forward. You want the baby to present with its back facing your belly. Since the baby's back is the heaviest side of its body, gravity will do the work for you.

Striaght spine. I have terrible posture and no, it didn't affect my pregnancy but it can make you more uncomfortable than you need to be.
