Are you keeping track of your ovulation?

One easy (and cheap) way to find out if you are ovulating is to monitor your basal body temperature with a special thermometer. Your body temperature rises about 1/2 degree when you ovulate, thus you can pinpoint the time that you ovulate by monitoring your temperature throughout your cycle. It's easy to do, just pick up a basal temp thermometer from your local drug store. Each morning, BEFORE you get out of bed take your temperature and record it, along with the date and day of your cycle (The first day of you period is day 1, women have a 28 day cycle on average). The website below has a free chart you can download to use to record and track your temperature.

There are also ovulation detection kits, which can be pricey (about $30 from the drug store), but might be helpful in pinpointing your ovulation and thus finding out when you are most likely to conceive.

As for the miscarriages, that sucks and I'm really sorry you had to go through that. The fact is that about 20% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage. You may just have been unlucky. But you should check with your doctor. They can do some tests to see if there is something wrong. But some doctor's won't test until you've had 3 miscarriages or have been trying to conceive for over a year. The good news is, it doesn't look like you have a problem getting pregnant. You just need to stay pregnant.

Good luck!

Yes there are several things that you can do! First off there are several factors that can affect fertility. One of these factors is age--advanced maternal age. Another factor is whether or not you are ovulating regularly. Also your husband/partner's sperm--the count, motility (how effectively it swims to the egg), and morphology (how the sperm is shaped) all affect the possibility of becoming pregnant each month.

You can do several things that could potentially help you....Chart your cycles to determine whether ovulation is occuring & whether or not your luteal phase (the time between ovulation and your period) is long enough to sustain conception and implantation. You can use something called the "Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor" which detects levels of LH (lutenizing hormone) in your urine to tell you when you are getting close to ovulating and thus when to have intercourse. Also talk with your OBGYN/Midwife, etc about all of this and see if your Husband/Partner can have a sperm analysis.

Best wishes!

Honey.. My husband and I tried for over a year and nothing. My advice, don't try so hard. Try to forget about it for now.Keep doing what your doing with the supplements. Enjoy the company of your husband, enjoy making love. Let it only be that, making love, try not to focus solely on ttc. And stress is a big thing as well, if your stressing about this, it will make it harder to conceive.

After trying so hard for a year, we quit, and lo and behold what do you know!

Now I'm a proud mommy of a beautiful 2 week old girl.
Good luck, and don't worry, it will happen for you:)
Merry Christmas!!

If you have had 2 miscarriages, your doctor should have ordered some testing to check for hormonal imbalance or other issues, many of which are easily resolved. I would speak with your doctor about finding out the causes of the past miscarriages. Good luck!
