I have not met anyone that likes them. So why keep making them?

the dang things are so heavy you could kill someone if you hit 'em in the head with one. the only good ones are the ones so soaked in rum that you can't taste anything else.

Mostly old ladies bake those nasty cakes. I love cake but fruitcakes are just disgusting. I mean I have never seen the people that bake those things eat a piece. People actually give those things as gifts. Just give me a chocolate chip cake now thats yummy

You just haven't had the right one/brand. Because there are such things as good fruitcakes, especially if you use "hard sauce".

To torture the poor souls who receive them year after year. Try using them as doorstops, paper weights, coasters, tire blocks, bricks to make skate ramps, lawn edging, etc.

as sick as it sounds, i really do like fruit cakes. my family and friends get grossed out whenever I eat one. I eat at least one cake a year. I'm trying to watch my sugar now, I wish I could find a sugar free fruit cake.
