In MD, a convicted assassin's lethal injection execution has postponed because he was an iv drug user and could experience pain during the execution. I am confused...If he was gravely ill wouldn't a hospital have to give him an iv also?

(Looking for opinions from both advocates and opponets of the death penalty)

Personally I do not favor the death penalty. My state does not have a death penalty. I think life in prison would be much worse than execution, regardless of whether I was guilty or not.

Some states do have a death penalty, I respect the right of the state to do this. Where it is allowed, I don't think the reason you state is a good reason to postpone execution.
