I went to the Dr. on Nov 13th..I was suppose to be 11 weeks pregnant, but the baby was only the size of an 8 week fetus. They did a D&C that night. I was devistated. I went back to the Dr. on Nov 27th for my check up. The Dr said everything looked fine and he gave me the o.k. to start trying again. I went to the Dollar Tree and got some Ovulation tests. I took one the (Nov) 27th, 28, 29th and (Dec)1st. They were positive on the 27th and 28th. It has been 5 weeks and I tested postive on a Clean Blue Easy Digital. I went to the Dr today (12/18/06, exactly 5 weeks from D&C date) and my HCG is at 28.7.....I have to go back for another blood test on Wed (12/20/06) to see if the levels are rising or going down. Can I be pregnant again? or is this just leftover HCG from the last pregnancy. I was not sure since the HCG was so low at 28.7...Thanks for any advice, It's gonna be a long 2 days waiting to see!!

Hcg can stay in your system for up to 6 weeks following the loss of a pregnancy. You are approx. 19 days past ovulation and the median range of hcg at 19dpo is about 303--so your level is very low. Good luck to you and I hope everything turns out good!

It really depends how high the HCG level was at the time of the D&C (miscarrige). HCG is removed from the body in a 2 level way. Large amounts are removed relatively fast 24-72 hours. Which is followed by a slower removal of the remaining hormone. With most being gone in a couple of weeks.

The rapid half life (time it takes to remove 1/2 of the substance) is 48 hours. The long half life is 2 to 7 days.

Hope the best for you!

I think once they do a D&C, it isn't very long after that the HCG levels go back to normal. At a 28.7, that's a pretty good sign. But you'll have to wait and see if they increase. Good luck.

I had a D & C done back in the end of febuary. in march i was pregnant again. i got pregnant the week of march 24th. that was my last menstral cycle. and that was four weeks. so yes you can. having a D & C is like having a baby, after you have the baby you can get pregnant right away. and thats the same way with a D&C. Good Luck!!!!

i don't know what an HCG is, but u can conceive after a dnc as long as your fertile. 5 weeks is long enough to have a period even after childbirth.
