We seem to be having a "zonal pattern" in which cold air is trapped in Canada and can't get very far south. This sometimes happens with an El Nino, which is occurring right now, when the Pacific water close to the coasts of the Americas gets abnormally warm, but if the warmth is sufficiently far back, it will bring in the storms and also the cold out of Canada. So far I have not seen this happen much.

Another, more general, cause could be global warming.

It's an El Nino year.

By the way, hate Chicago, they always get better weather than us. Wither they're colder than us in the winter, snowier than us, or stormier thann us in the summer and warmer than us in the summer.

We can't controll the weather so its random. You don't know when its gona change. Maybe because of factories, cars and all other things that can change the weather.
